Indigo Blue by

Indigo Issues
Have you ever felt like no one understood you anymore? That’s how Indy feels in the book Indigo Blue. Indigo Blue is an exciting realistic fiction book. It is written by Cathy Cassidy, who is one of my favorite authors. I really enjoy her writing. I think Indigo Blue had many twists and turns that would excite any adventure-loving reader.
I thought that the conflict was something that lots of kids can relate to. Indy’s parents had a fight, so Indy’s mom moved her and her little sister to a new flat, which just so happened to be infested with bugs and mold. Many parents now have fights just like that and move their kids away from one another. The next day when Indy tries to vent to her best friend, they don’t click like they used to. In my grade, there is lots of drama between friends. With a mom who has made herself sick with lost love, a sister she now has to take care of, and a best friend who just doesn’t understand anymore, Indy has her hands full even before she sees a van that looks surprisingly like her father’s following her home from school. I think this plot is very realistic.
The book Indigo Blue has many interesting characters. The characters are Indy, Misti, Indy’s mom, Indy’s dad, and Ian. Indy is very cautious because she thinks that her dad is following her, and he already hurt her enough. Most kids just want to live a fairytale. Misti is very vulnerable. She is just a young child and she doesn’t know what’s going on. Indy’s mom is conflicted. She doesn’t know if she should go back to Max or not. Max is Indy’s dad. He is very persistent because he keeps coming back to Indy’s mom. During this time, many couples are having relationship problems, so I think that this is a realistic conflict. Ian is very thoughtful. He is Indy and her family’s neighbor. When he found out that it was Indy’s mom’s first pay day at work, he bought her flowers. I love what Cathy Cassidy did with these characters. The story was something that many children will be able to relate to because of all of the divorces happening now. She got into the characters’ heads and told you what they were thinking. I really want to read more by this author.
As you can see, Indigo Blue is a highly interesting book. I liked it because of it’s real life, next-door neighbor characters. I also liked it’s ‘What will happen next?’ plot, like when Indy found out that her mom was in the hospital. I would recommend Indigo Blue to anyone who loves adventures. Everything is changing for Indy and her life is like a roller coaster ride.
