Ranger's Apprentice: Erak's Ransom by
John Flanagan
Just like the others, this Ranger's Apprentice book is one of the best books to read for action. Will, Horace, Cassandra, Halt, and Gilan travel to the desert to rescue Erak, the Scandian leader. Along the way, the group meets varying obstacles, including the Tunglai, warriors almost as good as the Rangers.

Horse Feathers (The Saddle Club, Book 98) by Bonnie Bryant
This story has very funny parts, but only if you understand what each character's personality is. It also teaches a little about vaulting, something you normaly don't know about.
