There is no deadline for accepting subscription sign-ups, however, the earlier you sign up, the sooner you and your students can get started on planning and getting excited for the activity!

Once you submit your paid subscription, your Teams will be created immediately, so that your Team Managers can start setting up their teams with Student Mushers at their convenience. Mushers will not be able to login until February 1, when the Training period opens. Training mileage will be totaled during this period, however, it will not count toward official race mileage. All reading mileage entered during the race dates, March 6 — April 30, will count as miles traveled on the Iditarod Trail.

2010 Subscription Rates

Idita-Read.org offers a three-month activity for $10-$12 per month. Up to 50 students per team can participate.

Public or Private Schools & and any other school-associated group

  • $35 per team, with no more than 50 students per team. Teams may also consist of after-school programs or reading groups, for example. For larger teams, please contact us to negotiate pricing.
  • $30 per team, when four or more teams per school or school district sign-up.

Home Schools

  • $35 per home school family (not enrolled in a WorldWide IDEA academy) or home school group (e.g., an association or consortium). We allow 50 students maximum per team. For larger teams, please contact us to negotiate pricing.
  • For home schools enrolled in WorldWide IDEA's Private Academy, this online activity is included in your family's enrollment. To sign-up your students for the WorldWide IDEA Team, please contact us at .

Payment Options

Mushers Continue Pushing to Nome, Finishers Start Trailing In

This morning, Lance Mackey leads the Iditarod race pack with others close behind him as they make their way to White Mountain. Just two more checkpoints to go until Nome! Meanwhile, the rest of the Iditarod's 50-plus racers are spread across the Yukon River basin to Ruby.

Of course, "winning" the race would be cool. But, no matter who finishes first, ultimately, it is the making and finishing the journey that makes the difference to each musher — what an awesome feeling!

Similar to the real Iditarod race, finishing the online Idita-Read is a celebration — knowing that you completed a challenging feat. Since the race began more than a week ago, 130 mushers have reached Nome and crossed the Finish Line.
